Best friends Marie and Alexia decide to spend a quiet weekend at Alexia's parents' secluded farmhouse. But on the night of their arrival, the girls' idyllic getaway turns into an endless night of horror.
- Hipster ZOMBIEJanuary 25, 2025An often overlooked hidden gem from the 2000s , High Tension, is a brutal slasher film that has one of the best twists ever in a slasher. Best viewed without knowing anything about it. Just jump into the horror and enjoy!
- PhysicalMedia4LifeSeptember 23, 2026There's images in this film, that I'll never be able to unsee ever again. That bit with what the killer was doing with that decapitated head, I'll never ever be able to remove from my brain. I'm well & truly mentally scarred for life after seeing that. It really went through me, like a knife through butter, it was so "GROSE" 🤢🤮 Moving away from that, I thought the twist was okay, it didn't blow me away or anything, but I am interested going into this on a 2nd viewing though, regarding how the clues & signs regarding the twist were prominent the entire time. So rewatching this I think, will be more rewarding in that aspect, with being able to see things you didn't notice previously. I've seen that horrifying bit now with the decapitated head and it's burned 🔥 into my brain 🧠 forever. Thank You, "High Tension" Good Job.
- ShapeInTheDarkMay 29, 2026This movie genuinely creeped me out. The atmosphere, the isolation, and the violence were intense, but that ending twist was wild once you realize she was the killer the whole time. One of those horror movies that sticks in your brain after it ends.
- Sean GlennSeptember 9, 2025Pretty good.Had a good twist to it.
- gaylynjAugust 6, 2025Really great movie with an incredible plot twist. They call it high tension for a reason, and the actress in it is fantastic. Yes, this is a foreign film, but I have yet to have found an American movie that compares to this. Especially on such a good creep factor, with a realistic touch.
- Kevin WardJuly 2, 2025I think my expectations may have been a little too inflated for this. I’ve had several people recommend it. It’s touted as one of the best of the New French Extremity movement in film, but I was somewhat underwhelmed by it. Admittedly, I think that is mostly due to that last twist. On my initial watch, it didn’t seem like it made logical sense and the film would have been better off without it. Up until that point, though, this was a really taut (and tense) thriller with some excellent looking practical gore. Glad to finally cross this off the watchlist though.
