Zodiac is concrete proof, that a murder mystery doesn't need to be rushed. It just needs to take its time and be given a chance to breathe and aired, to really develop things properly & thoroughly. And Zodiac does that brilliantly, with it's whole investigation, that this movie is mainly focused on. And not to mention "David Fincher's" very sharp attention to detail also on top of that. 🔍📽🎬🔥

Really good thriller, but definitely a slow one. The atmosphere is excellent, the acting is great, and the whole investigation feels more and more obsessive as it goes on. Jake Gyllenhaal, Robert Downey Jr. and Mark Ruffalo are all fantastic, and the movie does a great job making the smallest details feel important. It is a little too long, and the pacing won’t work for everyone. Still, I like that it doesn’t try to force a big answer or turn everything into a standard serial-killer movie. It’s more about the obsession, the uncertainty and how the case takes over people’s lives. Really well made and pretty damn gripping.

The lengthy, multi-year history of the investigation into a serial killer, presented in considerable detail, without fanfare, but that is how most investigations are.

The film is a masterpiece one of the best films based on real events ever created ... Absolute classic, if you have researched the Zodiac killer you will know how close this is to the real storyline - Robert Graysmiths book

The epomymous "Zodiac" chronicles a very dark period in San Francisco Bay Area history marked by the rampage of a seemingly random serial killer. As a work of nonfiction, the mission of this film is not so much to entertain as to inform, and it does this exceptionally well. The film is helmed by David Fincher who is responsible for many other meticulously executed masterpieces such as The Game, Gone Girl and Fight Club. Here Fincher takes us on a journey back in time. On screen, the film may not look like too daunting of a project but consider what it took to recreate the sets and backdrops of the time. The realism is such that you might feel you're watching a documentary and, in a sense, you are. As far as entertainment goes, there isn't really much to offer. Robert Downey Jr. does a great job of playing the only character he really ever plays, while Mark Ruffalo shows considerable range compared to his later Marvel work. Brian Cox is always a joy to watch but Jake Gyllenhaal is the real standout, portraying the obsessed Robert Graysmith opposite Downey. If you're already familiar with the source material, this film will take you back through it in chilling detail. If you're not familiar, pay close attention and you'll be rewarded with a, sadly true, gem of a suspense thriller worthy of multiple viewings.
