- PhysicalMedia4LifeAugust 10, 2026The Frightening is one of those movies where, you had to be there for it; for it to resonate with you and for you to really enjoy it for what it is. Younger audiences today will not like this movie. The Frightening is very much a product of its time. This film really relies on nostalgia connections, for it to be really appreciated for the movie that it is and for it to work. I've always really liked this one. I think the low budget look about it, the whole visual aesthetic with how its all shot & lit; really adds to the horror vibe & atmosphere really well for that time imo. The Frightening just all simply comes down to, what generation of people watches it. And that's going to be the difference, in whether they like or dislike it I think.
