Where to Watch The Dark Knight Rises
- After everything The Dark Knight accomplished, the hardest thing Nolan could have done was make the final chapter feel worthy of ending the story. The Dark Knight Rises takes an enormous swing, turning Gotham into a city on the verge of collapse and making Batman's return feel like an event the entire city can feel. I love how physical the movie becomes as the story progresses. Gotham's frozen streets and packed football stadium eventually give way to a city consumed by war, and Wally Pfister's IMAX cinematography, once again, makes the transformations feel enormous. Hans Zimmer's score continues pushing the film's ideas as it has the whole trilogy, especially as Bane's uprising grows into something almost mythic. This isn't the intimate crime story The Dark Knight was. Nolan clearly wanted to make the ending feel as large as the story itself, and for the most part, he succeeded. Tom Hardy's performance, even when limited by the mask and muffled voice work, is a huge part of why this film works. There is something genuinely intimidating about the way Hardy carries himself, particularly because Bane rarely needs to prove that he is the toughest presence in the room. Anne Hathaway's Selina Kyle brings some personality into the film as well, and her relationship with Bruce gives the finale a more human side. The story does buckle under its own weight at times. Nolan has so much to resolve that some of the plotting feels clunky, and the film can push its ideas about class and revolution harder than necessary. Yet by the time Bruce's story reaches its conclusion, I found myself caring less about those rough edges and more about how satisfying it was to see everything finally come together. The Dark Knight Rises is an imperfect ending to an extraordinary trilogy, but its ambition and payoff make it a finale I have a hard time resisting.
- Another better-than-average (and overly-long) Batman film from Christopher Nolan. It's more of a spectacle than the previous entries and it's somehow even more all-over-the-place than the last entry, but it's a fun watch, Tom Hardy's Bane is a memorable villain, and it wraps up the trilogy pretty well. Just try not to overthink the logistics of certain elements of the plot and you should enjoy it.
- On rewatch, The Dark Knight Rises is a flawed but underrated conclusion to the Dark Knight trilogy. Positives: - The movie is extremely well made, well directed, well shot, and well edited - For the third time Gotham looks great with some great cinematography - The performances are once again excellent - The characters are all great even the new characters - The action and fight sequences are all awesome and executed very well and make the film very enjoyable - The practical explosions all look great - The movie has a fantastic conclusion to this amazing trilogy of movies, Batman himself, and the city of Gotham - The movie also sets up some new things in the end that you can just imagine happened - The score is also obviously incredible Negatives: - The pacing is really bad in this film - There are some cheesy lines and moments that are laughable Overall The Dark Knight Rises may be flawed but I still think it’s the perfect conclusion to my favourite comic book trilogy of all time on rewatch.
- “The Dark Knight Rises” is an epic movie with massive action scenes that give it a real sense of scale. At times, it moves a little slowly, but when the action kicks in, it's impressive. Catwoman was my favorite part of the movie. She's an interesting character, and Bruce Wayne's story brings the trilogy to a satisfying close. You can guess where it's headed, but there are enough twists along the way to keep the ending enjoyable—a solid finish to Nolan's Batman trilogy.
- When I first watched The Dark Knight Rises, I remember liking it, but I also heavily complained about it in my review on Plex. During this weekend, I decided to give it a rewatch, and I liked it much more than I remembered. I still do have some of my old criticisms with, but for the most part I had a very good time. All the actors are phenomenal in this film, and Tom Hardy’s Bane easily goes down as one of the greatest comic book-movie villains of all time. His quotes are still running free in my head. The action sequences are a lot bigger and bombastic than the first two, and I personally thought they were awesome and very entertaining. And Hans Zimmer’s music, HOLY SHIT! Talk about a f**king banger of a score. I also found a lot of similarities between this movie and The Dark Knight Returns, which is one of my favorite comics of all time and I liked the elements of it that they put in this film. Overall, I had a very good time with this movie. In my old review, I gave it a 3,5/5 stars, but after rewatching, it deserves at least 4 stars!
So, I rewatched The Dark Knight Rises
