Lanterns might have just saved the DCU!
Positives:
- The series visually looks good with all of the space stuff whenever we get it
- I like the small town setting
- The performances are great - Kyle Chandler is an all timer as Hal Jordan
- The characters are great and fully fleshed out with character development
- The mystery is intriguing and keeps you guessing until it’s revealed
- The twists and turns are pretty shocking and clever. I didn’t see any of them coming
- The origin story for John Stewart is done pretty well here
- The finale is pretty controversial but for me it works. I think it’s a satisfying finale
- The action sequences are intense
- The comedy is pretty funny
Mixed: I hope they bring back Hal for the next season
Negatives:
- Some of the flying scenes look a little weird
- I wish we got more locations explored in the DCU
- Some of the later episodes are a little bit slower and aren’t as interesting as the first 5 episodes
Overall I loved Lanterns and I can’t wait for our next DCU project. If you love comic book projects or mysteries I recommend this to you.

A Nightmare on Elm Street
A Nightmare on Elm Street 2010 is a failed attempt at remaking a horror classic.

- Visually I think the movie looks pretty good. The dream sequences look great
Negatives:
- The CGI blood, gore, and more does not hold up at all. It looks terrible
- The kills look terrible☝️
- The characters are all very dull
- Nancy is so forgettable and doesn’t feel like our final girl this time around
- They make Freddy and petaphile
- Some of the dialogue is pretty absurd
- It’s a pretty basic shot for shot remake at times
Overall A Nightmare on Elm Street 2010 is a very messy, but still entertaining remake.
Heart of the Beast is a very simple movie, but so effective.
Positives:
- The story here is a love letter so our military and our dogs
- Brad Pitt is great here
- Odin is so ADORABLE!!!!
- The wilderness sequences are very intense
- The bond between Brad Pitt and Odin is just like any other humans relationship with a dog. It’s emotional and heartwarming
Negatives:
- The movie is fairly simple and very familiar at times
Overall Heart of the Beast is a solid dog film that dog lovers or Brad Pitt lovers will go nuts for.
New Nightmare is definitely the most unique movie in this franchise.

Overall New Nightmare is a good and very unique entry in this franchise.
New Nightmare
Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare
Freddie’s Dead: The Final Nightmare is a horrible conclusion to this iconic franchise.
Negatives:
- The characters are so lame and forgettable
- The acting is bad
- The kills are beyond disappointing
- The practical effects feel dated
- The story goes in a very weird direction that I did not want it to go on
- The way the film is structured felt a bit odd
- Freddy is a full comedian this time around
- There are no tension scenes whatsoever and instead it’s traded with comedy
- The comedy is bad
- The ending is so rushed
- How Freddy is defeated is so lame
Overall Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare is an awful ending to this series.
Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare
A Nightmare on Elm Street: The Dream Child
A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child just showcases that this franchise is out of steam.
Positives:
- The kills are creative and kind of cool
- The acting is solid enough for this type of movie
- Robert Englund is once again great as Freddy Krueger
Negatives:
- All of the characters are so bland, forgettable, and straight up generic
- This might just be the worst plot, story, and new concept we have ever seen in an A Nightmare on Elm Street film
- The direction it goes in is terrible
- The writing is terrible and very absurd
- The entire third act is straight up stupid. How Freddy is defeated is beyond lame
Overall A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child is a forgettable entry that does this franchise zero justice.
Avengers: Endgame is a conclusion to 22 movies in a cinematic universe that feels so earned and so satisfying.
Positives:
- Visually the film looks amazing
- The score gives me chills every time I listen to it or hear it in the film itself
- The soundtrack is great
- Most of the characters are utilized so well in the story. Iron Man, and Captain America get their endings that we all imagined for them
- The performances are amazing. Most notably for the best acting is definitely Robert Downey Jr.
- The action sequences are epic
- The entire third act is arguably the most epic sequence ever in a movie period
- The ending is very satisfying
- The comedy is very funny but some of it is pretty stupid
- The emotional moments hit - Black Widows death, and Iron Man’s death
- The movie is very quotable
- This is probably the greatest movie theatre experience I have ever had and will probably be the best I will ever have
Negatives:
- Smart Hulk is really stupid and butchers the character
- Thor was done dirty as well
- The first hour is just a waste of time with a lot of bad moments
- The movie does drag at parts
Overall tho Avengers: Endgame is the perfect conclusion to the Infinity Saga.
Daniel: and the Fiery Furnace is another film that proves that filmmaking and practical magic is entering the red zone. Daniel is a great story from the Bible but here it’s executed with zero care and effort. The movie is so low budget that it hurts all of the somewhat interesting scenes. The sequences that actually had potential are ruined with awful AI that takes you out of the film. Daniel and the Fiery Furnace had potential to be something good but instead of taking their time to deliver a good movie, the filmmakers used AI. Terrible movie.
Daniel and the Fiery Furnace
Avengers: Infinity War
Avengers: Infinity War is a satisfying pay off of what the MCU has been setting off for sometime.

- This is the only MCU film where we get to see The Avengers as a family
- The interactions between each character is so much fun
- The action sequences are extremely entertaining
- The performances are once again great
- The characters are all likeable and so much fun
- Wanda, Vision, and Quicksilver are introduced
Mixed:
- Bruce and Nat just does not work at all. They have absolutely zero chemistry and it just feels so out of place
Negatives:
- The movie focuses way too much on the humour rather than the actual plot of the movie. The humour just overall doesn’t land for me
- Some of the dialogue is pretty cringe and straight up absurd at moments
- The movie is just kind of forgettable compared to most MCU movies
- Killing off Quicksilver was a really stupid decision
- Ultron just gets worse, and worse, and worse as I rewatch it so much. He looks pretty good but his lines are so weird and out of place it takes me out of the film at points
Overall Avengers: Age of Ultron is a solid enough Avengers film but without question the weakest of the four films.
The Avengers is what truly planted the seeds for the MCU and why it’s successful.
Positives:
- The movie is very satisfying because Phase 1 took a few superheroes, gave them their own film, and had a post credit scene setting something up. Everything was leading to this in Phase 1
- Seeing all of these superhero’s interact with each other still brings joy to my eyes
- All of the superheroes are AWESOME!!!
- The acting is great
- Loki is a solid villain
- The action is ABSOLUTE CINEMA!!!

A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors
A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2: Freddy's Revenge
A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge is a very strange horror film.
Positives:
- The practical effects are pretty solid
- The acting is good enough
- Robert Englund is obviously great and really terrifying as Freddy Krueger
- The opening sequence is terrifying
Negatives:
- This movie breaks all the rules that were set in the first one
- I don’t care for the direction this movie goes on
- The characters are very generic
- There are a lot of weird scenes in this movie that were intentionally put in this movie. The sequences don’t feel like a person would do this in real life
- The film also contains really cheesy dialogue
- The chilling score from the first one is missing here
- The actors for Jessie and Lisa have zero chemistry so their romance does not work at all
- The kills were super disappointing
Overall A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge did not work at all and is a large dip in quality compared to the first.
A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2: Freddy's Revenge
Resident Evil
Resident Evil is a very unique video game adaptation.
