The granddaddy of em all. My favorite movie period. Has been since I hit high school. It inspired countless imitators and sequels, but none have come close to touching the greatness of this eerie classic.

"I met this six year old child with this blank, pale, emotionless face, and the blackest eyes the Devil's eyes. I spent eight years trying to reach him, and then another seven trying to keep him locked up, because I realized that what was living behind that boy's eyes was purely and simply evil."

I've watched this so many times I've lost count. I own it and re-watch it on Halloween night every year, because it never gets old. In my opinion, it's the perfect formula for a horror movie, frightening and tense without jump scares every 30 seconds, properly violent and gory without overly-long scenes of the gore, funny without being over-the top. And finally, Jame Lee Curtis and the man who plays Michael play their roles perfectly. I've seen every single sequel and they are okay, but this one, in my opinion, is as close to perfect as you could possibly get from a horror/slasher movie.

It’s a classic and has inspired many horror films today, but I honestly don’t think it’s the best. My expectations were too high probably. It wasn’t awful, not at all, but I feel like it could have been a little more structured.

    ## Synopsis Michael, an escape mental institution inmate, goes back to his home town to kill again. ## Review I know understand why I was always told that teenagers were just having sex all the time. This movie, which supposedly is a depiction of normal teenagers, having very disappointing sex based on the scene in the bedroom. I know this obviously isn't a real depiction, but it does explain a lot of what I was told growing up. This is a classic and I can see why it would scare people... in 1978. Today, I think we are desensitized to things like this. The best thing I saw was the undertaker sit up by Michael in the background. The rest of it sets a tone of suspense that I think was lost on me. Looking at reviews, "The Grandaddy of horror," but one of the most common things people talk about is the pace. It is a very slow movie. However, it very well shot. The cinematography is outstanding and I think I'd be more inclined to watch more of his things, but I need a bit more speed to the story. ## [My Rating] I get what people like about this. I get why the call it the masterclass of horror, however, I don't think it is there anymore. I know people are going to get upset, but having never watched this before, it just isn't up to what we get now. Maybe [[Halloween]] will be an what I am looking for. This is a 7. ## [Parental Rating] I don't think they would have liked this in 1978 and they for sure won't like it now. There is a lot of language, and a ton of language about sex that isn't very well veiled. The violence at this point is kind of tame compared to now, but it is there and graphic. Rejected by both.

🎃 My Personal Ranking Of All The Halloween Timelines 🔪

09: The Ressurrection Timeline 👇 Halloween 1978 ➡️ Halloween 1981 ➡️ Halloween H20 & Halloween Resurrection My Reason Why its Number 09 👉 The return of JLC as Laurie Strode gives this a very cool & interesting angle, and H20 really does feel like a proper and a very well done satisfying conclusion. Then Resurrection happened and totally ruined and undid the whole victory and closure of H20, that's why this timeline is at the very bottom of this ranking. 08: The Thorn Timeline 👇 Halloween 78 ➡️ Halloween 1981 ➡️ Halloween The Return Of Michael Myers ➡️ Halloween 5 The Revenge Of Michael Myers & Halloween The Curse Of Michael Myers. My Reason Why its Number 08 👉 First of all Halloween 4 is a brilliant Halloween movie. But Halloween 5 just like with Halloween Resurrection, completely ruins and undoes H4. And that bone chilling ending of H4 with Jamie Lloyd standing on top of the stairs with the clown costume & mask holding the scissors. It had that sense of full circle to it. A direct replica of the opening in Halloween 78. They should have left it there and started a new timeline. 07: The Rob Zombie Timeline 👇 RZ Halloween 2007 & RZ Halloween 2 My Reason Why its Number 07 👉 I appreciate RZ going for something different but the whole dialogue and seeing unicorns 🦄 and stuff like that is not what Halloween is about. While they are beautifully shot and have good performances in it. There are major plotholes and how they made Dr Loomis an absolute douchebag in Halloween 2009 was unforgivable. 06: The David Gordon Green trilogy 👇 My Reason Why it's Number 06 👉 While there were some of the best moments throghout this entire trilogy of films; however it doesn't justify the fact that plot wise & thematically this trilogy is all over the place. What were they thinking with Halloween Ends, it doesn't feel coherently connected to the trilogy at all. 05: The Season Of The Witch Timeline 👇 The most standout and blacksheep of the Halloween franchise, in the best way possible. It's the only Halloween film that doesn't have Michael Myers in it, apart from the Halloween 78 cameo on the TV 📺 But as much as I love "Season Of The Witch" and am a huge defender of that film; however at the same time though, they shouldn't have put in the Halloween universe and should have just had it as it's own separate thing altogether. Because if you took the Halloween title from it and don't have any of the cameos; then you wouldn't know it was part of the Halloween franchise. And yet its one of my absolute favourite entries in the entire franchise. Season Of The Witch is a complicated one 😂😂😂 04: The Loomis Trilogy Timeline 👇 Halloween 1978 ➡️ Halloween 1981 & Halloween 4 My Reason Why it's at Number 04 👉 From here on out, it's just preference because from this point on I love every single one of these timelines. 03:🥉Halloween 78 & Halloween 1981 Timeline 02:🥈The original as a Standalone/One & Done 01:🥇🏆 🎃 🔪 The H20 Timeline without Halloween Resurrection 👇 The H20 timeline with how it should have stayed and ended. This is my favourite timeline of the entire franchise. Which really makes for a very good and strong Halloween trilogy. That's the timeline, I watch every single year. The undisputed champion for me, out of all the possible Halloween timelines is this one.

    Prove Me Wrong

Halloween (1978) is highly overrated. Its atmosphere, music and influence on the slasher genre are undeniable, but the movie itself is slow, thinly plotted and packed with questionable character decisions and convenient logic. Michael Myers is treated as terrifying largely because he has no explanation, which can feel less mysterious than simply underwritten. The film deserves credit for what it inspired, but its reputation as an untouchable horror masterpiece often exceeds what is actually on the screen.
