It's Ghoulies!
The puppets are crap, the actors are the worst, and the effects are not the best either: but it's part of my growing up in the 80s.
It's a low-budget, horror comedy for older kids and adults to entertain, not scare anyone.
So it's a cult movie, made all by hands at the time and that has been enjoyed even since in living rooms, bedrooms, basements and films fests, etc.
It's a five-star not because it is the best movie, but because it's always one of the best intros to the horror genre when you're young and thus stays a favorite for most everyone fan of horror maybe?
I went into it thinking that I might get disappointed. I mean, the iconic original also was part of my childhood, and it marked the world so much...
I watched the original again first to set the table, and then right after: Beetlejuice Beetlejuice
I was not disappointed at all, and just to see Catherine O'Hara in one of her last roles alone was sweet... I liked that more work went into creative sets and makeups, physical stuff as it was then done, which really still out performs the best green screen and Ai in many cases.
A lot of the original was this actually physical magic created by artists. And, there was some of that, maybe not as much as I wanted, but still there, in other words, it wasn't all green screens and technology making the atmosphere.
It's not gonna be a favorite I go back to, there was some things missing for me...But I am still gonna watch it again, recommend it, and give it a good rating.
Enough of a good concept and execution, though it did feel like a student film at times.
Still, I did enjoy watching it, and the sequel as well.
The Barn
Mom and Dad
Absolutely loved it! I am a Nicolas Cage fan to begin with, but what better setting for his talents!
Nicolas Cage is awesome and a great actor, as well as a great human being.
I loved this movie's premise too!
Mom and Dad
Trench 11
This was truly worth the time watching.
It's not the big blockbuster by any means but a great take on the genre, and I enjoyed it!
Trench 11
Uncle Peckerhead
OMG I loved it.
Didn't expect anything and the movie felt like a C movie a little at the beginning, but that turned around quick to a righteous B movie of the best kind!
This was funny, endearing, wacky and lots of fun!
Uncle Peckerhead
Hellraiser
How do rate Hellraiser other than 5 stars, always and forever, 5 stars.
Not only because you watch now in 2026 and it stands-up to time, but also because it was not made this year, it was made long ago when the special effects and genre were not so easy to produce on and off stage. Both for technology of movie making, but also the politics of movie making and the censorship authorities towards this genre at the time.
This is part of Americana, and this is a must for anyone who even remotely enjoys horror and gore movies. But really, for anyone that loves movies, point blank!
Awesome angle to play with in this Paranormal Investigation movie... The danger is not always where you expect it!
Was worth watching and funny enough :-)
Ghost Team
Succubus
It had some good moments and some originality...
Maybe a bigger budget would have made for a better overall result, but in any case, it kinda fell short for me.
I haven't seen a creative and new take on the zombie apocalypse genre, but this was the case!
Enjoyable from beginning to end, a true nice find that I recommend to any fans of the genre.
Wyrmwood: Apocalypse
Gatlopp
A modern variation of a " Jumanji " if it was played and made for adults.
I was genuinely entertained.

Night of Something Strange
Why is this a movie?! That was sooooooo stupid and graphic for no reason!
Now listen, there was a good concept there, and the movie had some ok moments...
But honestly, it came across as the vision of a 12 years old sex starved adolescent. I just
can't give it a good rating.
However... I watched it all the way through the end, and I kinda want to watch it again...
So as bad as it was to watch: how bad is it really that I want to watch it again?..
Night of Something Strange
Black Friday
There's a good way and a bad way to do horror comedies in a "B" movie genre.
This was made the right way. Nothing too fancy but decent and fun.
Spoiler: Bruce Campbell doesn't save the day, he's just a grumpy 'ol store manager in this one, and it was perfectly executed.
All and all, I suggest this should be part of your Holliday movies roster, along with "Die Hard" (which is totally a Christmas movie), Bad Santa, Violent Night or Gremlins, just to name a few...
Black Friday
A Halloween Feast
Meh!
Can't say I liked it all that much. It had some moments, but that's pretty much it for me...
