Where to Watch Your Friends & Neighbors
- Enjoyed season 1. Good concept and plot. Started to turn into Sex in the City style season 2. I get it, writers made it appeal more to men and women but it could of been better and focused more on thievery and the under world involving that but made it more of a rich tech bro problem concept. Every episode has a minimum of 4 sex scenes in which is random.
- Season 1 of *Your Friends & Neighbors* was great. Watching Coop’s life spiral out of control and seeing how he adapts and tries to dig himself out of it is easily the best part of the show. The tension, uncertainty, and possibility of revenge or consequences kept me hooked. Coop is by far the strongest character, and I think the show is at its best when it stays focused on him. Season 2, however, was a letdown. Most of the supporting characters simply aren't as entertaining. Even Coop's sister is boring to me, and I really didn't care about Mel's storyline. It feels like the show is drifting away from what made Season 1 so compelling. My biggest frustration is the show's portrayal of accountability, especially among its female characters. It unintentionally highlights what I believe is a real double standard in American society, where women can sometimes receive greater sympathy or leniency for destructive behavior while men are expected to deal with the fallout. Sam is the biggest example. She nearly destroyed a man's life through her greed and choices, yet ultimately receiving community service felt like a slap on the wrist. Even my fiancée was shocked by how little accountability there seemed to be. Throughout the show, we see cheating, manipulation, betrayal, framing, and lives being damaged, yet many of these characters seem to move forward without consequences proportional to their actions. I found it difficult to sympathize with them when the writing itself rarely seems willing to make them truly confront what they've done. Coop can also be frustratingly forgiving. I love his character, but watching him casually interact with people who betrayed or hurt him as if everything is fine takes away some of the satisfaction. I wanted more justice, revenge, or at least genuine accountability. Season 2 also handled a certain character's death terribly. There was so much potential for a larger confrontation and payoff, but instead the character was killed off in an anticlimactic way that felt like a wasted storyline. The show still has tremendous potential. I just hope it returns its focus to Coop, gives actions real consequences, and isn't afraid to explore the uncomfortable questions it raises about gender, relationships, accountability, and the justice system. Season 1 had me hooked. Season 2 made me question where the show is heading. Also man this show really does explore modern day women to the T.
- The show feels like the male version of Weeds, with Coop suffering a life-changing loss, or more so to the point a series of them, and then doing something drastic to try and maintain his lifestyle. And in the spirit of Nancy Botwin-ism one bad decision seems to lead to the next over and over. The cast has some really great actors, that really do fit their parts very well. However, some of them seem to be used as a convenient storyline prop or transition element instead of their own entity. With its fair share of steamy scenes and a lead character that you sometimes hate to root for, it is ultimately filled with rich people cliches, silly choices and is very predictable.
- "House Of Cards" without Spacey's creepiness. Does anyone else hate this show but can't stop watching? Do we really need more "It's So Hard To Be Rich, Waaah!" programming? Cast is amazing, writing is good, but... I detest almost every character and want them all to burst into flames. I dream of leaping through the TV to beat whomever is on screen with my fists, before slowly eating them alive. The characters and motivations make sense, which boils my bile that much more.
- A sharp, cynical, and delightfully watchable series, *Your Friends & Neighbors* is a slick thriller that skewers the lives of the ultra-wealthy. Anchored by a magnetic lead performance, the show turns a mid-life crisis into a high-stakes crime drama full of dark humor. The Good: Jon Hamm is perfectly cast as Coop, a disgraced hedge fund manager who turns to robbing his neighbors. He flawlessly captures the character's wit, desperation, and charm, making a flawed man incredibly compelling. The supporting cast, especially Amanda Peet and Olivia Munn, is outstanding, adding depth and complexity to this world of hollowed-out privilege. The writing is witty, the pacing is addictive, and the central crime spree provides a thrilling engine for the drama. The Bad: While entertaining, the show's satire can feel a bit shallow, occasionally pointing out the absurdities of the rich without offering much deeper commentary. The central premise, while strong, relies on a significant suspension of disbelief regarding the ease of the heists. At times, the tone can be inconsistent, struggling to balance its dark comedy with moments of sincere family drama, and the plot occasionally meanders in the middle episodes. A perfect binge-watch, *Your Friends & Neighbors* is a clever and stylish series that succeeds thanks to its stellar cast, even if its social commentary doesn't always hit the mark.
- Refreshingly honest commentary about the nature of consumerist society from Jon Hamm's narration with cleverly sprinkled in humor and a smattering of complex secondary characters to explore is a winning combination. The first season builds a lot of momentum that I hope is delivered on properly when the second comes out.
- So much fun! A great series that starts with the premise what do you do when you lose everything and live in a neighborhood surrounded with those that still have everything? A total anti-hero and a story how you wrestle back your humanity when all you’ve ever done was chase money. Can’t wait for another season of the show! Don’t miss it give it a watch
