Where to Watch Lanterns - S1 • E8
- I love how this season of Lanterns came together. I really appreciate shows that take the time to build rich backstories and meaningful character arcs. It's rare to see a superhero story executed with this level of craft. What stood out most was the focus on internal conflict—the friction between following orders and standing up for your beliefs, or clinging to old habits versus becoming the change you want to see. Given everything that's happened over the last six years, a story that encourages us to slow down and be better feels especially resonant. I’m not deeply versed in the Green Lantern mythos, but this feels like a foundational chapter for the universe going forward. I’m eager to see how far they take it. Also, that soundtrack during the emotional beats? Perfection.
- *Lanterns* S1E8. And there it is. The finale doubles down on what this show has been all season: **Devoid of action. And somehow even more devoid of Green Lantern.** Hal’s killer was hardly a shocking revelation. The clues were already sitting there. Then we get more family drama, more emotional conversations, and another opportunity for the rings to remain mostly decorative. Eight episodes. This was the moment to finally let loose. Instead, the show underdelivered one last time. And then John talks to Guy Gardner like he is some junior employee being reassigned. Guy just takes it. Really? Guy Gardner can be arrogant, obnoxious, confrontational and impossible. But submissive? **Submissive is not one of them.** Maybe somebody in that writers’ room needs to read a few Green Lantern comics before Season 2. If there is one. Thanks for reading.
- Ugh. The best thing about this show and this episode is that it's over. How is that a finale? Literally 99.99% people standing around talking. Wow. Riveting. Such superheroing. Watching this show has been a terrible experience. It's poorly written and terribly edited. The acting is wonderful, I guess... but WHO CARES? The DCU was cooked before it ever got started. Each entry is worse than the last. I sure hope the "universe" dies soon if this is the kind of boring, sloppy and broken crap they are going to build the DCU out of. Absolutely shameful. Who ARE the people making these decisions? If this is most James Gunn... it's like he's purposely trying to ruin a IP for decades. Please stop making garbage like this and make a damn SUPER HERO SHOW! It's not what this lame thing was. Social commentary and NO ACTION? Wow. Just wow.
