Where to Watch Lanterns - S1 • E5
- Lanterns S1E5. The most exciting thing in this episode was the cowboy gunfight at the ranch. For a moment it reminded me of the Montana Livestock Agents from Yellowstone. Except, of course, they did not have Green Lantern rings. Oh wait. Neither does this show. After that, it was mostly more of the same. And then we get one of the oldest tricks in the book: The exact moment you need the ring the most... Battery dead. How convenient. Five episodes into a Green Lantern series and somehow the writers are still finding new ways to keep the Green Lantern part of the story on a leash. At this point I am not even asking for nonstop constructs and space battles. I just want the ring to stop behaving like a phone at 1% whenever the plot needs trouble. The cowboy shootout was fun. The rest? Same show, same problem. Thanks for reading.
- "Lights Out" doesn’t just follow last week’s very solid chapter—it surpasses it. The investigation’s measured pace gives way to a sustained emergency, with Geeta Vasant Patel using limited light and sudden stretches of silence to make the danger feel immediate. Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre sell the shift through tense physical performances and stripped-back dialogue, making Hal and John’s increasingly unstable dynamic feel dangerous even when neither of them speaks. The episode also trusts its central mystery enough to avoid both easy answers or another cheap cliffhanger, turning it into a psychological trap that keeps tightening. After four episodes of groundwork, Lanterns finally feels willing to let its characters lose control.
