Where to Watch Titane
- Steroids bad. Cars cool. Slight spoilers: What the fuk man. I was running this theory through my head that her og father abused her and it somehow was his baby. Then with the second guy they were each others emotional prosthetic (like metal) or something, healing each others trauma. Looking for metaphors where there weren't any. Turns out she legit just had a baby with the car. And I guess she's a serial killer. That's fkin awesome dud. Great shots and color. Idk what I just watched, but I think I really liked it.
- Forgot how quickly this becomes a straight up horror. So many genre changes! Also totally forgot what an active role the orange car had in setting up the plot Man I looked like such a perv seeing this by myself in an empty theater at 3 PM lmao Has definitely grown on me as I’ve started to appreciate inspired and innovative direction! Somehow forgot how much body horror was in this. Like even the more “subtle” body horror, she’s always doing things that are so painful and make me so uneasy lmao The performances from the two leads are just….astounding. Seeing the audience at Cannes experience this may have been more exciting than the film itself! Which is saying a LOT
- The film focuses on an exploration of identity and synthetic intimacy, intentionally cutting against standard storytelling expectations. Agathe Rousselle plays Alexia, a detached killer with a steel plate in her skull whose life shifts into a desperate camouflage identity. The narrative changes direction midway through, moving from a cold thriller into a character study when she embeds herself in the life of a grieving fire captain, played by Vincent Lindon. Director Julia Ducournau relies on saturated neon visuals and a heavy, industrial atmosphere that makes the physical transformations central to the frame. While the technical execution and originality of the project are clear, the extreme nature of the premise establishes a clear ceiling for its overall rating. The script operates with a sharp defiance, forcing major shifts between visceral body horror and a stylized familial melodrama that can feel more like an endurance test than a fluid narrative. Viewers looking for structural clarity or traditional payoffs will likely find the surreal choices impenetrable. However, for those who value distinct auteur choices, it stands as a bold experiment that fully commits to its own premise.
- Titane follows a woman on a murderous rampage as she struggles with the meaning of her identity. Along the way she will learn to receive and give unconditional love in the most unexpected way. This is a truly twisted and emotionally layered story that delivers a gut punch in the form of some of the most bizarre body horror you will ever see. Surprisingly deep and well acted, Titane is a gem.
