Meh, found myself drifting & started browsing the net, even later on when things heat up, I found it lacking and mediocre.
  • The cop thriller is a crowded corner of the genre, and The Rip does not exactly arrive with a revolutionary blueprint. What helps it stand apart is the lived-in chemistry between Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, who settle into their scenes with an ease that makes their shared history feel immediately convincing. Their exchanges have the rhythm of two people who know each other well, giving the familiar police drama more personality than the material might otherwise deserve. The low-light cinematography and rain-slicked city streets also give the film a suitably grim atmosphere, keeping the tension present even when the story falls back on recognizable procedural mechanics. Steven Yeun delivers the film’s most striking performance, adding another impressive chapter to a career that continues to move in exciting directions. He brings a sharpness and unpredictability to the role that makes it easy to understand why he has become such a compelling screen presence. The film still runs into some familiar genre habits, including predictable procedural turns and a few logistical decisions that do not hold together as well as they should. Fortunately, the performances give The Rip enough energy to avoid becoming another disposable Netflix thriller. It does not reinvent the cop drama, but its committed leads, strong supporting work, and surprising resistance to streaming clichés make it a solid, highly watchable crime thriller.

It picks up as it gets going but it’s no Good Will Hunting.

“The Rip” pairs Matt Damon and Ben Affleck with an easy, believable rapport that gives the film its human center. It’s a crime thriller driven less by action than by uncertainty, as it figures out who can be trusted and who can’t. The momentum slips a bit in the final stretch, but the chemistry and tension make it worth the time.

Great buildup of tension and of course excellent chemistry between the duo of Affleck and Damon. I felt like the movie could taken a bigger swing by adding a twist to who the antagonist was but overall good movie to srart the movie off.

💰($‿$) This was truly a great movie. Acting was top notch (shout out to Kevin Smith for raising them right!), but we wouldn't expect less. Storyline kept you guessing from beginning to end (how don't I remember this?). My only complaint was lights! There were none. The first hour and fifty minutes was shot in the dark and half the time you couldn't see what anyone was doing. Time for credits? Sunrise!!!! The police station was evidently even saving money on the power bill. It's a great watch, you won't regret it, but those last 2 points were lost for lack of lighting.

A beautifully photographed mess, crummy scripting, crummy performances, the "climactic" scene played out inside an amour car is a tedious disaster. I just don't get why studios keep giving Joe Carnahan money.

For me, the story moved quite fast and was a bit confusing, making it hard to keep up. However, there were many scenes I liked; they seemed quite complex.
