After a mysterious cosmic event rips Oak Street from suburbia and transports their neighborhood to someplace unknown, the Platt family soon discovers that their very survival depends on them sticking together as they navigate their now unrecognizable surroundings.
CGI wasn't distracting but the behavior and writing of the dinosaurs were completely unrealistic.
What period of time was this Cretaceous period because of the spinosaurus?
Also what about the bugs? The massive bugs, not one bug seen, the bugs would have been the first layer of creatures to enter a new space. Dinos would have chased the bugs into the new space more likely.
Also the circle was lifted on a cliff, how did the dinosaurs get in? Long Necks aren't scaling mountain sides like goats...
So much wrong
Not every part was on a cliff. Some spots were level with the ground, and the dinosaurs just walked onto the neighborhood like that. I wasn't super impressed by the movie though. I liked that they added the fur and the feathers to the dinos, but it seems like other than that the CGI was actually pretty disappointing. And yeah the behavior for the dinosaurs was just way off. They would be animals cautious about new things, not crazy killing machines. Like yeah the bigger ones or the ones in packs might eat a person or two, but honestly that would take a while. Honestly, it would have been more realistic if the dinosaurs had been really cautious even when hunting people, and if the dinosaurs had either fled or become even more cautious when wounded. No meal is worth a severe injury unless you're desperately and near fatally starving already. Animals understand that. In the wild, if prey fights back hard enough or is too inconvenient or dangerous to catch, a predator will leave it alone.
One other thing that I would like to start seeing more of in movies featuring predatory animals is that they don't generally attack prey when they aren't actively hunting. I'd love to see a allosaurus or a raptor or anaconda of some sort just kind of glance at a protagonist and then just go on it's merry way because it's just not hungry. Because that's realistic. It's fine if it's hunting them later or at some point when it is hungry, but without these calm interactions I think it's really easy to forget that these aren't monsters, they're animals.
