There’s a lot to like here. The movie doesn’t shy away from how horrific a conflict like this can be, and some of the scenes involving civilians are genuinely brutal. I also appreciated that the African characters are played by African actors, which helps the whole setting feel more authentic. Bruce Willis is well cast, and most of the performances are pretty good across the board. The jungle locations, atmosphere and combat scenes all work really well too. It’s definitely not subtle, though. The American patriotic stuff gets pretty heavy-handed, and the final stretch goes completely nuts with the explosions. I swear there are more explosions in this than in some big-budget war movies with entire armies of tanks. It can feel like the movie forgets how effective the quieter, more brutal moments are. Still, underneath all the Hollywood nonsense, there’s a solid war movie here that takes the brutality seriously and has plenty of memorable moments.

Reminds me of the Ghost Recon games.

there are reviews who critisize the movie for its brutality, claiming how onedimensional and evil the villains are and that the movie makes them out to be more brutal than the SS were. Well, to those people i suggest reading up on the rwanda genocide and then we'll talk again. Bruce Willis oozes charisma. the soldiers have distinct and individual personalities. the jablonski variations remains one of my favourite zimmer pieces. the movie is well paced. it's worth a watch, but it is not for the lighthearted or people who need safe spaces.

Good flick, and personally, I do not care for war films! Willis is at his prime & Bellucci is easy on the eyes! We'll directed by Fuqua & all supporting players are magnificent!

This is a movie that has everything great acting, plot, & writing, sadly everything missing in movies today.

One of the best movies that paint a picture of what is going on in Afrika.

Solid film, solid cast, solid performances, well written. Just don't scratch the surface to American Colonialism too much, they hate that. Bruce in straight mode - genuine charisma. The additional cast are all individuals and you know who's who and feel nitted together. One of the most gruesome scenes outside of horror - humans are little more than caged animals.
