Where to Watch Scary Movie
- Crude comedies are few and far between these days, but after watching this one, I’m starting to wonder whether that’s really such a bad thing. The first half hour is largely spent showing off the returning faces and cashing in on nostalgia. It doesn’t take long, though, to realise that I don’t really care about any of these characters. As with previous instalments, the most fun comes from spotting references to horror films and pop culture. The problem is that recognising them is far more enjoyable than the jokes themselves. The humour relies on shouting, sexual innuendo and meta-commentary, as if the film were desperately afraid of losing the audience’s attention. The closer we get to the end, the more I realise that the era of these stupid comedies trying to get laughs through sheer vulgarity may be over. This film feels like a collection of loosely connected sketches that gradually becomes exhausting. I laughed few times, but that’s simply not enough. This is streaming material at best.
- Scary Movie was a disappointing return for a franchise that once delivered some of the funniest and most memorable parody comedy of its time. While I appreciate the attempt to bring the series back and there are a few funny moments and familiar faces, the movie feels much more targeted toward a newer, younger audience than fans of the original. A lot of the humor and references simply don’t have the same impact as the first Scary Movie, which had a unique style and perfectly captured the movies and pop culture of its era. For longtime fans, it feels like something is missing. It may work better for viewers discovering the franchise for the first time, but unfortunately, for me, it falls well short of the original.
- I really wanted this to be good. Bringing back Scary Movie after all these years sounded like a fun idea, and there are a few moments that got a small laugh out of me. Seeing the franchise return was at least a little nostalgic. But man, this was rough. I honestly thought Scary Movie 5 had already hit rock bottom, but this somehow digs even deeper. So many jokes feel lazy, most of the parodies barely work, and almost every gag goes on way longer than it should. The movie also feels strangely tame. Some of the older entries were completely ridiculous, but that was part of the charm. Here, it just comes across as tired. Honestly, watching paint dry is funnier than half the jokes in this movie. Going full offensive and completely unhinged would've probably made for a much funnier film than whatever this ended up being. A really disappointing comeback.
- Wazzup!🤪 It was so funny and so packed full of current references but they still managed to make it a twisted joyful ride. Felt like 40 minutes and that's how I know I enjoyed my time. And because I haven't laughed that much at a new movie in YEARS. They put so many current topics in the correct lense, pointing out how idiotic a lot of it truly is. The characters picked up enough of their old tropes to make it feel like them, the acting was top-notch from the OGs - of course and the ones were really good as well. They paid attention to the details - sometimes you find something real funny on a crave stone or a sign, that was always my favorite in Scary Movie and they even self-referenced in a clever way. The first Act had a little too much from the trailer in my opinion but how else would they show what they had to offer for the whole movie. I missed this style of comedy and I feel like it teleported me back in the correct timeline. Probably my favorite Comedy or maybe even Movie of the year in general. Can't really top this - unless they do white chick's next. 👀
- A Few Good Laughs, But It's Time to End the Franchise! They really tried pulling out the 2000s nostalgia card, but man, half these jokes belong in a museum. I cracked up at a couple of ridiculous scenes, not gonna lie, but the rest was pure cringe. How are you gonna spoof modern horror using 20 year old humor? It offers just enough laugh out loud moments to justify a single watch, but it's clear this franchise has run out of steam it's time to finally lay it to rest.
- I really had high hopes for this film since the Wayans took over the franchise but what happened? Just by the intro to the film you can already tell it’s going to be a rough one. There are some funny moments in the film that still get me when I randomly tell my friends about how bad this film is however this film was such a disappointment.
