My favorite moment of Vincent Price and Peter Cushing dueling. Two legends. Loved the use of footage of Price’s earlier movies. This and the meta Vincent Price narrative make it a really fun watch for fans of Price.

Madhouse (1974) is a stylish psychological horror that starts as a murder mystery but gradually shifts into something more unstable and subjective. What makes it interesting is how it constantly blurs the line between reality and performance, especially through Paul Toombes’ struggle with the Dr. Death persona that defines and traps him. By the end, the film stops behaving like a standard whodunit and becomes more of a psychological spiral about identity, obsession, and authorship. I liked how it doesn’t fully “explain” everything in a clean way, instead it leaves you in that uneasy space where it’s unclear where the characters’ minds end and reality begins. That ambiguity is what makes the ending stick.
