An okay movie that feels like an early, animated version of the Aquaman story that Jason Momoa would eventually bring to live action. What surprised me most is how much time the movie spends developing Arthur and Mera’s relationship and Arthur’s struggle to understand where he belongs. That character work is actually more important to the movie than the action which isn’t what I’m watching these movies for. It’s not a bad movie, but it feels more like a foundation for the Aquaman character and his world than a particularly memorable standalone story.

As a DC fan, Throne of Atlantis is a solid payoff. It not only expands Aquaman’s origin but continues the larger arc that kicked off with Justice League: War and Son of Batman. Seeing how Arthur Curry steps into his role is both satisfying and well-earned, especially with the way the film ties into the existing DC Animated Universe. The action hits hard, the world-building goes deeper, and the connection to the broader League makes it feel like a real piece of something bigger. By the end, it sets the stage for something greater—hinting at a more unified future for our heroes. It’s a rewarding watch for fans following the timeline.

Pretty solid, just not super memorable. There’s some cool visuals and the scale is nice, definitely feels bigger than the last one. Still, it’s a bit uneven… some moments hit, others just kinda pass by. Characters don’t always get enough time to breathe either. I liked it fine, just didn’t stick with me much after.
