Dial M for Murder is simply a classic. It's one of those films where the story is clever, the acting is excellent, and everything comes together so well that you can just sit back and enjoy it from beginning to end. What I particularly loved is how Hitchcock creates so much tension from such a contained story. The plot is smart without becoming unnecessarily complicated, and the performances carry the film beautifully. There is something incredibly satisfying about watching all the pieces of the plan unfold and seeing how the characters react when things don't go exactly as expected. It's a classic for a reason. Great acting, a clever story, suspense from beginning to end, and filmmaking that still works decades later.

Delightfully complex and well though out. Milland and Williams have stand out performances. Can you blame him?

It's surprising to see how Hitchcock has thrown the entire mystery on the viewer's face and still manages to blow the fuck out.

Classic film. One that I've watched many times over the years. Re watched it with my partner who had never seen it - she really enjoyed it. Timeless.

Some of the problems with murder movies these days are that the villain’s mistake is placed awkwardly or to easily spotted. This movie made it feel like the perfect murder right up until the end when the villain’s mistake was revealed in a logical way that made me have that ah-ha! Feeling.

Don’t watch this on Plex; it’s distorted by the aspect ratio. But watch it and everything else Hitchcock touched… when his work can be seen as it deserves.
  • Unfortunately, the movie did not play through the end. It abruptly stopped. I tried playing it again and fast forwarded to where it stopped before and the same thing happened. Quite frustrating as I love this movie.
