Where to Watch Bad Teacher
- ⭐⭐⭐ – Bad Teacher – A one-note joke carried by commitment. I remember enjoying this at the time, and Cameron Diaz doing genuinely solid work with the material. She leans hard into the character’s laziness, selfishness, and general moral bankruptcy, and that full commitment is what keeps the film afloat. Beyond that, though, not much has stuck. The plot, the beats, even most of the jokes blur together in hindsight, which is usually a sign that the film worked well enough in the moment but didn’t leave much of a footprint. It’s not unpleasant, and it’s not a misfire. It just doesn’t have much going on beyond its central gag, and once you’ve seen it, there’s little pulling you back for a revisit. Diaz is clearly having fun, and that energy does translate, but the rest of the film never quite matches her effort. Three stars feels about right — mildly enjoyable, lightly memorable, and largely dependent on its lead performance. 🍸 A vodka soda — clean, sharp, and forgotten almost as soon as it’s finished.
