- Rewatching this for the first time in about 25 years was a bit of a reality check. I genuinely thought it was so good when I was a kid, but the nostalgia didn't survive this revisit. Julie Delpy is easily one of the better parts, and Paris could've been a great setting for a werewolf movie. There are a few fun gore moments and some decent creature work, but the film never really finds the right balance between horror, comedy and romance. The biggest problem is the CGI werewolves, which look pretty awful and often make the action feel more like a video game than a horror movie. The humor is mostly juvenile, the characters aren't particularly likable, and the story gets increasingly ridiculous without becoming either scary or funny enough to make it work. It's a huge step down from the original, and honestly, I'm amazed I remember liking it so much. Childhood nostalgia can be a powerful thing.
